Potato plants do best in cooler wet environments.  Needless to say Las Vegas, Nv is not that environment.  Nonetheless, we have a potato plant growing in a five gallon bucket in our side yard.  This poor plant does not like 105F summer weather. It is watered at 7:30 AM but by noon it is wilted.  A splash of cool refreshing water and an hour later, the plant is recovered.  Check it out:
